Dr. Shannon is thrilled to join the outstanding team at Austin Urban Vet Center!

From a young age, Dr. Shannon knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience from Penn State University while running Division I Varsity Cross-Country and Track. She then attended North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she became a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.

After practicing in North Carolina for two years, she moved to sunny Austin in 2013 to pursue a career in emergency veterinary medicine. This makes her the perfect fit for treating your fur babies’ unexpected accidents and mishaps! She also pursued her Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine at the renowned Chi Institute. For Dr. Shannon, integrating Eastern and Western medicine helps create a multimodal approach to treating minor and major animal ailments.

When not hanging out with the fun AUVC team at work every day, you can find Dr. Shannon dining out, playing piano, practicing her new hobby golf, running Town Lake, swimming at Barton Springs, boating, or traveling to the Florida Keys for her absolute favorite activity – free diving for Florida Spiny Lobsters with her family!

Her trusted companion along the way has been her rescue mixed breed dog Samson, who recently went acutely blind from SARDs. Therefore, she holds a special place in her heart for pets with unique challenges!
