Helen Rudnick, DVM, CVA

Medical Director, Certified Medical Acupuncturist

Owning pets has been one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences of Dr. Helen Rudnick’s life. She got into veterinary medicine so she could help other pet owners feel the same way! Helping pets and their loving parents get back to their normal lives is the ultimate reward for her.

Dr. Rudnick grew up in Jupiter, Florida, where she secured her first veterinary job in a local kennel. She quickly started training to perform Veterinary Assistant and Technician work. After high school, she headed to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida, studying Chemistry and Anthropology while working in a nearby vet clinic. Dr. Rudnick stayed at the University of Florida for veterinary school, then moved to Austin after graduation to look for a practice that had the same mission and ideals that she did. Upon visiting Austin Urban Vet Center, she knew immediately that it was the perfect fit.

Medically, Dr. Rudnick is particularly interested in ophthalmology and eye disorders, which are often quite challenging and can even be closely tied to internal medicine and systemic diseases. Dr. Rudnick recently obtained her acupuncture certification and is excited to use her skills to relieve pets’ pain.

At home, Dr. Rudnick lives with one pet: Finn, a hound mix that Dr. Rudnick brought with her from Florida. He loves hiking, cuddling, and getting into things he shouldn’t. So far, he’s eaten two pounds of dog treats, a man-o-war jellyfish, and even sand! When she has time outside of work, Dr. Rudnick enjoys camping, hiking, traveling, reading, playing the piano, and singing.
