Mike Porta, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Mike Porta is originally from north New Jersey, but has called many places home while pursuing his dream career in veterinary medicine. After obtaining a BS in Animal Science from Cornell University, he headed to the Little Apple in Manhattan, Kansas where he obtained a DVM from Kansas State University. As a student, he developed a passion for surgery, and sought additional post-graduate training in this field. He completed a rotating internship at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital in Colorado, followed by a surgical specialty internship in Dallas, and then an additional surgery internship at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center in Connecticut. Dr. Porta then worked as a relief veterinarian in Philadelphia and New Jersey in general practice, emergency and urgent care, and surgery.

His next adventure brings him to Austin, along with his wife and fellow veterinarian, Emily, and his three dogs - Kiba (Siberian Husky), Faye (Great Pyrenees mix), and Fitzgerald (Boston Terrier).
