Becky’s father used to work in the canine unit of the local police department. When his dogs eventually retired, they would come to live with Becky’s family. Even though the dogs were trained for police work, they were incredibly gentle towards Becky and her sisters. It was probably this early exposure to animal compassion, muses Becky, that inspired her to work in the veterinary field!
Becky grew up in El Paso, Texas, as the middle child of three girls. She attended the University of Texas at El Paso to study biology before transferring to Texas State University to focus on Animal Science. She fell in love with Austin and has been here ever since!
Becky’s role as Practice Manager has given her many opportunities to educate both clients and employees about veterinary care and about the clinic as a whole. She’s been a part of Austin Urban Vet Center since the very beginning, and it’s been thrilling for her to watch it grow. There’s never a boring day in the office!
Becky was recently married to her wonderful husband, Brian. They share their home with three pets: Sam, a grey shorthaired cat that Becky found hiding in the frame of her car; Sarah, an aging cocker spaniel who still manages to live life to the fullest; and A.J., a clumsy German shepherd who loves lounging.
In her time away from the clinic, Becky enjoys staying active by playing indoor soccer and running. She’s even completed three half-marathons in the last few years! She also likes biking, being out on the lake, and dancing.
